As the first online CT simulator that quantifies and assesses clinical competence and scan quality, ScanLabCT is revolutionizing the way CT is taught and evaluated.

Our Software

Realistic CT Simulation

ScanLabCT is a virtual CT simulator that is designed to incite all thoughts and practices usually experienced only at the CT scanner, but without risk to patients and without the time constraints in normal clinical practice that can limit the user’s learning process and skill progression.

Key Features of ScanLabCT

ScanLabCT incorporates virtual reality with an interactive patient and image acquisition to replicate the complex clinical aspects of day-to-day practice. ScanLabCT also includes image reconstruction examinations and critical thinking questions to reinforce comprehension and retention.

VR Positioning

Choose from over 10 VR body position options to match the patient position that is appropriate for the selected examination.

VR Landmarking

Virtually set the patient landmark within the VR environment in order to minimize radiation dose and unwanted image magnification artifacts.

VR Scan Room Environment

ScanLabCT incorporates a virtual reality CT scan room and interactive patient to further enhance the simulation of the complex clinical aspects of day-to-day practice like never before. Monitor your patient during the exam, just like you would through the window of a real-life scanner. The motions and movements of the patient on the CT table are meant to perfectly mimic the clinical environment.

Image Acquisition

ScanLabCT continues our belief that simulation without a clinical objective is not useful. With this in mind, the user acquires localizers, 3D helical images in keeping with the presented question criteria within the user interface.   This includes parameters like slice thickness, window, kernel, and slice coverage just to name a few.

Image Reconstruction

After the user has acquired the raw data, they will then be asked to reconstruct the data with the appropriate angle, slice coverage, window, kernel, and slice thickness to reflect the question criteria in the imaging protocol.

Critical Thinking Questions

At the end of each ScanLab examination, the user will be presented with randomized questions varying in difficulty that serve to challenge their understanding in multiple concept categories, including: Anatomy, Angiography, Artifacts, Clinical Procedures, Parameters and Trade-Offs, Pathology, Patient Preparation and Care, Safety. The user is graded based on their understanding of these individual concepts so that areas of understanding or lack of comprehension can be identified and addressed.

Enterprise Benefits

Solutions for Educators and Managers

ScanLabCT provides educators and managers with the tools they need to quantitatively evaluate their students’ and staff’s knowledge and abilities.

Accessible cohort user metrics

Monitor your students’ or staff’s progress easily and effectively regardless of the user’s geographical location. With a single click, asynchronously access unlimited past user exam reports to quantitatively evaluate their slice prescription, chosen parameters, and critical thinking answers.

Tailored experience
  • Allow or restrict access to certain body regions and examinations to keep your cohort focused.
  • Decide the current difficulty and available categories of critical thinking questions for your cohort
  • Turn On/Off “Sandbox” mode to allow for user’s assessment to be recorded or omitted from the user dashboard
  • Turn On/Off “Challenge” mode to add or omit answer criteria and user feedback. This allows the cohort manager to set how much assistance the user is given as they progress.
